At Pendle Academy we are proud to follow the ISTD Modern Theatre syllabus.

Modern Theatre dance is a rhythmic dance style rooted in Musical Theatre, which originated in America. It is often seen in musical productions and is known for its dynamic theatrical qualities. The style uses travelling steps, high kicks, leaps and turns which all need strength and flexibility. Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing Modern Theatre also incorporates Jazz, Lyrical and Contemporary dance styles into its examination syllabus.

Our ISTD Modern classes work towards graded exams, however classes can be taken just for fun and experience if a students doesn't wish to go down the exam route.

Within these classes, students will also work to enhance their technique using some of our other registered training programmes such as Rosina Andrew's Pirouette/Leap Surgery, Alixa Flexibility stretches, plus many more.
